It’s 9:00 PM. You’ve just gotten into your jammies and settled onto the couch to relax for the rest of the evening in front of the Christmas tree. Then your heart drops. You forgot you promised to bring dessert for _______________ tomorrow (insert Christmas event here). Son of nutcracker! (Elf, anyone?!)
We’ve all been there. Forgetting until the last minute that you were going to bring something for yet another holiday party. What is a person to do?! Have no fear – I have the PERFECT solution: white chocolate party mix. It’s known also as Christmas crack, Christmas crunch and probably a million other things. Well, whatever you call it, it’s stinking delicious and it’ll literally take you 10 minutes to make. You heard me. TEN MINUTES.
White chocolate party mix has been a holiday staple in my life for as long as I can remember. My mom makes it every year and to me, Christmas just ain’t Christmas without a little (or a lot) of white chocolate party mix in my life. So I carried on the tradition and I make this every year. It is a holiday favorite in our house!
You’ll have to forgive my lack of pictures. I get so excited about Christmas baking and get so focused that I forget about taking pictures until AFTER I’ve already completed the recipe *smacks forehead*
10-16 oz. pretzels
5 cups Chex (rice or corn)
5 cups Cheerios
1 32 oz. bag M&M’s (use holiday one to make more festive!)
2 cups peanuts (my mom uses these, I don’t. Totally your preference)
2 bags white chocolate chips
3 TBLSP vegetable or canola oil
Step 1: dump the white chocolate chips into a large microwaveable bowl. Pour the oil on top and mix together. Microwave on HIGH until the chips are melted. I start with 1 minute, stir, 30 secs, stir, repeat until melted.
Step 2: Dump the remaining ingredients into a large bowl. And I mean a LARGE bowl. Mix together.
Step 3: Pour melted chips over the mix and stir. Or use your hands. For real. I find that using my hands is a more effective way of evenly coating all the mix, especially the stuff that gets stuck on the bottom of the bowl.
Step 4: Dump onto wax paper to cool and harden. Once cooled, break apart and put into storage container.
